Karina A. Chavarria

Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Panama

Biography

Karina is a postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. She completed her bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering at the University of California Los Angeles and her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. Her work focuses on microbial communities in drinking water and water resources in Latina America and the Caribbean. Her research interests include the effects of intermittent water supply on drinking water microbiomes and water source protection.
